Upp™ #PowerUpp campaign in Covent Garden

To support the launch of Upp, a wireless hydrogen fuel cell that powers up USB devices, an eight-day brand awareness campaign in London’s Covent Garden kicked off last week (24 September).

Upp was developed by Intelligent Energy plc in November 2013, and has been designed to revolutionise the way we charge our smartphones, tablets, e-readers, digital cameras and other compatible handheld USB devices. The device allows you to have the freedom of personal energy generation by giving you instant and continuous power, away from the mains, through reusable Upp cartridges. A single fuel cell cartridge can charge your device for up to one whole week.

The Covent Garden campaign featured ambassadors on hand to encourage consumers to trial the device, and an Intelligent Energy hydrogen taxi was also present.

The campaign was also supported by a social media strategy; people were able to share their experience of Upp via Instagram using the hashtag #PowerUpp.  Pictures were then printed directly using Instaprint machines and attached to giant Upp lettering on the stand. Upp_CoventGardenIntelligent Energy pledged to donate £10,000 to the international charity Water Aid, if the campaign was successful in filling the whole sign with shots of consumer experiences. As seen above, the campaign was a great success.
