Sainsbury’s to be first UK supermarket to install hydrogen refuelling station

On October 28th, Sainsbury’s announced that they are to install the UK’s first supermarket hydrogen refuelling station at their Hendon store, in North West London, by the end of the year.

They will be working with international leaders in hydrogen infrastructure, Air Products, to deploy the 700-bar SmartFuel® station. This delivery is part of the London Hydrogen Network Expansion (LHNE) project, thus will join a network of existing stations.

Avishai Moor, Fuel & Kiosk Category Manager from Sainsbury’s said: “Hydrogen vehicles are both environmentally friendly as well as efficient so we are really excited about being the first UK supermarket to trial this new technology and make it accessible to our customers.”
